2026 Memory Verses

Memory Verses for April 2026

In April of 2026, the first Sunday is Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day! It should not be difficult for a true Christian to be joyful, to live joyfully on this day! The greatest gift ever given to anyone is to live in the presence of God for eternity, and the only way to obtain that gift is, like any other gift, to accept it. You can believe that there is a God, and that Jesus Christ was/is His only begotten Son, but if you also believe that you can or must “earn” that eternal spot in Heaven with Him, you are rejecting the sacrifice that Jesus made for you. You are rejecting His gift of salvation.

You may be so sad that Jesus died on the cross, but don’t forget that He rose again three days later to prove He was God and could offer you that gift of salvation because of the sacrifice He gave on the cross. Yes, Good Friday was/is a sad day, but Easter Sunday morning should bring tremendous joy! In fact, God can bring joy after great sadness on any day, not just Easter! Our memory verses for April remind us of that truth.

Psalm 30:5b - weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Memory Verses for March 2026

In March we continue our 2026 theme of Joyous Living in Christ. Our first verse for March shows that Jesus wants us to be full of joy and the best way to do that is to read, believe, and live according to the teachings of Jesus, which are found in God’s Word, the Bible.

John 15:11 - These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Our second memory verse teaches that we should be joyful even in times of temptation. That may sound strange, but, as part of the Word of God, it is true!

James 1:2-3 - My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Memory Verses of the Month - February 2026

As was said about our memory verses in January, we are following the theme of “Joyful Living for Christ” in 2026. February is a month that has a theme of “love”. I believe that the core component of “joy” is “love”. In fact, love and joy are the first two items found in the list of the Fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. Our memory verses for February of 2026 remind us that God loves us, and that He commands us to love others.

1 John 4:16 - And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

John 15:12 - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

The knowledge that God loves you should bring immeasurable joy into your life. If you want to spread that joy, share that love. In fact Jesus commands us to do that. None of us can love as Jesus loves us, but that should be our goal.

Memory Verses of the Month - January 2026

For 2026, our memory verses will follow the theme of “Joyful Living for Christ”. Perhaps the hardest times in which to Live Joyfully for Christ are the tough times. We all have them, probably more often than we would like. The problems in life could come in many different ways - financial, health, work related, family and other earthly relationships, and likely so many more. If we can’t get through these hard times, we can’t consistently have “Joyful Living for Christ”. What can we do? Our Memory Verses for January of 2026 are the first 2 verses of Psalm 121, and they answer that question.

Psalm 121:1-2 - I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

If we are honest with ourselves, we will realize that the only real source of relief from times of trouble is Jesus Christ, and we need to turn to Him for help and comfort in those hard times. He made heaven and earth! Surely He will help restore joy to our life and our relationship with Him if we are willing to look to Him, trust Him, and submit to His will. If you really want to have “Joyful Living for Christ”, the only way to get it and maintain it is to trust Him to get us through the hard times.
